Jodie
Smith-Bennett, CMP, Founder and President
Part coach, part choir director, part firefighter,
part diplomat, part accountant, Jodie Smith-Bennett has been executing
top-rate events since college when she began producing plays for the Harvard
Black Community and Student Theater. Since then, every step of her career
has afforded her a different and important perspective on the development
and management of exceptional events.
During her years as a Systems Engineer at IBM, Smith-Bennett garnered
critical hands-on experience in sales and marketing strategies, team management
and project execution. As a Marketing Specialist at Wang Laboratories,
she was responsible for the development of a variety of marketing/communications
materials as well as the training of sales representatives. Management
of over 400,000 square feet of exhibit space at the Washington Convention
Center exposed Smith-Bennett to the "supplier side" of event
planning, ensuring the success of such large-scale events as the 1990
George H. Bush President’s Dinner, with over 5,000 in attendance.
Oversight of a million-dollar events budget for the Open Software Foundation
in Cambridge, MA ultimately allowed Smith-Bennett to draw on her collective
experience. There she managed all aspects of event marketing and management
for this international organization with such Fortune 500 constituents
as Citicorp, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, and JP Morgan.
Jodie Smith-Bennett graduated cum laude from Harvard University. She is
proficient in Spanish, well-versed in international business etiquette
and has achieved industry recognition as a Certified Meeting Professional
(CMP).
